Samantha Kochis Concert Samantha Kochis, a Seneca Valley graduate and recent graduate of the Masters program for for flute performance at the New School in New York City, will return to Calvin Church in Zelienople to perform an “ambient music” concert with her trio, “Stained Glass Window.” The concert this evening at 7:00pm. There is no cost for admission, but donations will be accepted to cover the costs of the musicians. This trio of Kochis, Leni Krelenberg, and Kaiwei are from the New School, and are skilled in composition, improvisation, and electronic music. This concert features the genre of “ambient” music. This may be new to most listeners, and will also include visual and lighting elements including projections and additional sanctuary lighting. “Ambient” music is often aligned with modern meditation music, and most of this concert’s music will be spontaneously composed and performed. Live audience feedback will enhance the spiritual flow of the music. Attendance is somewhat of a participatory experience, and the concert will not be streamed or broadcast. FREE ELECTRONIC MUSIC WORKSHOP Saturday, October 7th, 10:00am - 1:00pm Are you interested in learning how to start your own journey of ambient and electronic music? The musicians of the Stained Glass Window project incorporate elements of improvisation and electronic music into their group performances and personal practice. In this workshop, the trio will teach essential terms of electronic music, starting points of improvisation, and introduce unique synthesizers incorporated in this exciting artistic practice. No experience in electronic music performance or production is required! Bring your instrument and/or voice for participatory elements of the workshop. |

Tom Huston Wood Carvings Tom Huston, who was a member of Calvin and passed away almost a year ago, was a very well loved man by many, and a talented wood carver. He worked with and created many beautiful pieces of wood items, including, tables, benches, stools, cutting boards, etc. Upon his nearing death, his wish was to sell his remaining pieces and donate those monies to the Without Reservations bike mission. In honor of Tom, and to benefit a mission that was near and dear to his heart, Without Reservations will be selling some of these pieces in the upcoming weeks. Look for them in Fellowship Hall, and please consider making an offer that shows justice to Tom in a way that will honor him and bring his wishes to a close, as well as, provide a meaningful contribution to the bike mission. |
